第 7 節(原書第 2 章) | 農場的王子斯林姆登場;他的母狗生了九隻、淹死四隻;卡爾森第一次提議:讓坎迪的老狗解脫。

美國河(American River)

沙加緬度附近的河,1848 年在這裡發現金礦,引爆加州淘金熱。到了 1930 年代仍有失業者去淘金餬口——喬治想到的退路,其實也是另一個夢。

淹死小狗
